When planning a private yacht cruise through the Norwegian fjords, one of the most common questions we receive is:
What is included? Is it all-inclusive? What about breakfast, lunch and dinner? Can the menu be customised? And what if someone in your group has allergies or specific dietary requirements?
On our overnight and multi-day cruises, the experience is designed to be seamless from the moment you step onboard. Your own chef joins the journey, meals are prepared onboard, and the menu is tailored to the people around the table.
Recently, we welcomed guests onboard for a five-day journey through the Norwegian fjords. Where we had chef Tommy Ranti on the cruise, and took care of the culinary experience throughout the journey, adapting each day to the guests, the itinerary and the ingredients available along the way.
The photos throughout this article are from that journey and offer a glimpse of what dining onboard Private Cruise can look like.

Is a Private Cruise all-inclusive?
Yes. Our multi-day cruises are designed as an all-inclusive experience, so you don’t have to spend your holiday thinking about where to eat, making restaurant reservations or organising meals along the way.
On overnight cruises, we have a dedicated chef onboard who follows the guests throughout the journey and gets to know their preferences from day to day.
A typical day includes:
- Continental breakfast
- Lunch adapted to the day’s activities
- Three-course dinner in the evening
This means the culinary experience isn’t separate from the cruise. It’s part of the journey.
“As our guest, we take care of you throughout the entire process.”
— Tommy Ranti

Your menu is created around you
One of the biggest advantages of having your own chef onboard is flexibility.
Before departure, the chef will personally contact you to learn about your preferences, favourite ingredients, food wishes and anything you would rather avoid.
“Unless otherwise agreed, the menu will be a ‘surprise’ every day – with wishes and preferences taken into account,” explains our chef, Tommy Ranti. Rather than following a fixed restaurant-style menu throughout the journey, your preferences provide the direction while the chef takes care of the rest. This also allows the menu to evolve along the way, adapting to your wishes, the day’s activities and the journey itself.

From breakfast to a three-course dinner
Every day onboard is different and the food follows the rhythm of the journey. You might wake up anchored in a quiet fjord and start the morning with a continental breakfast onboard.
Lunch is adapted to what you are doing that day. If you’re heading ashore, exploring a village or spending several hours experiencing the fjords, the chef can plan accordingly.
In the evening, everyone returns to the yacht for a three-course dinner prepared onboard.
“We serve a continental breakfast, lunch adapted to the activity for the day and in the evening we serve a 3-course menu.”
— Tommy Ranti
It’s one of the things our guests particularly appreciate about a multi-day journey: you don’t have to plan your days around restaurants. The dining experience adapts to you.

A taste of Norway
Where you are cruising also influences what you eat. Our chefs focus on using regional and Norwegian ingredients to give guests an authentic taste of the country they are exploring.
Along the west coast, seafood naturally plays an important role. But Norwegian cuisine extends far beyond the sea. Ingredients from the mountains and inland regions – including reindeer and mountain trout – can also find their way onto the menu.
“We focus on using regional and national ingredients to get the most authentic Norwegian fjord experience.”
— Tommy Ranti
For international guests in particular, this creates another way to discover Norway. You see the fjords outside the window while tasting ingredients that come from the landscapes you’re travelling through.

What about allergies and special dietary requirements?
This is another question we receive frequently.
Allergies, intolerances and other dietary requirements can be accommodated.
Because the chef contacts you before departure, these requirements can be discussed and planned for in advance. Whether someone in the group has an allergy, follows a particular diet or simply has ingredients they don’t enjoy, let us know.
Having the same chef with you throughout an overnight journey also provides continuity. The chef gets to know the group and can adapt meals from one day to the next.
Your own chef, throughout the journey
For our overnight cruises, having a dedicated chef onboard is about more than preparing great food. It’s about personal service.
During a five-day journey, for example, the chef quickly learns what the guests enjoy. Meals can then evolve throughout the trip rather than every dinner feeling like a separate restaurant visit. Our chefs bring extensive knowledge and experience from both Norway and abroad, combining professional cooking with the flexibility required onboard a private yacht.
“Our team of chefs has a high level of knowledge and experience from both Norway and abroad, so you will always be in the best hands.”
— Tommy Ranti

The recent five-day cruise with Tommy onboard is a good example of what we want our multi-day journeys to be. The destinations change. The activities change. The views outside the windows certainly change. And the menu changes with them.
What remains the same is that everything is centred around the guests. From breakfast in a quiet Norwegian fjord to a three-course dinner after a full day of exploring, your chef takes care of the culinary experience while our crew takes care of the journey.
No searching for restaurants. No fixed menus you have to fit into. No unnecessary planning. Just good food, personal service and the freedom to experience Norway at your own pace.
Experiencing Norway along the way
Of course, a multi-day Private Cruise is about much more than the food. The journey itself is a big part of what is included in the experience. During the recent five-day cruise, the guests had the opportunity to explore the Norwegian fjords from both the yacht and on land, with new scenery, destinations and experiences throughout the journey.
With your own yacht and crew, there is also freedom to stop, explore and experience places along the way. Depending on the itinerary, this can mean going ashore in small coastal communities, getting closer to waterfalls and dramatic fjord landscapes, or simply finding a quiet anchorage to enjoy the surroundings. Instead of following a fixed sightseeing schedule, the journey can be adapted to the guests and the conditions along the way.
And sometimes, the experience is simply about the view. Having breakfast, lunch or dinner onboard while surrounded by mountains, waterfalls and calm fjord waters is an experience in itself. On a multi-day cruise, the scenery outside is constantly changing – giving you a new backdrop as you wake up, dine onboard and relax after a day of exploring.

Just some of the things you can explore and experience on a private cruise. In these photos, our guests went ashore to discover waterfalls, hike the Flørli 4444 stairs and through the Norwegian landscape, meet some of the locals and get closer to nature along the way.
